Remember how I said that I wanted to make time to garden, write, and build furniture for Amelia? Well, I haven't found (made) time to write, but I did... eventually... complete my first furniture project. Two projects actually, from Ana White's website (formally known as Knock-Off Wood).
The $4 Stackable Chairs were more difficult than I expected, mostly due to the poor quality of the furring strips I was using. But I think I put enough screws in them. :)
P.S. I apologize for using a camera phone to take these pictures, but when your only option is to work during nap-times, you use the fastest option.
The table top for the Clara's Table plan was amazingly easy!! I convinced Tobin to let me invest in a Kreg Jig, which made screwing the 3 1x8's into one solid panel a breeze. Wood filler and sanding did the rest.
Then the table and chairs sat in the garage for several weeks, because it was just too damn cold.
Of course, Christmas was suddenly right around the corner, so I dragged everything inside to paint.
And the end result is that Amelia LOVES her new table. She loves to hide underneath it. She loves to dance on top of it. She loves to pile all of her blocks on top of it. And she practically demands that Mommy and Daddy go over to "Sheet Down" and "Culor" with her.
I have to admit, I'm pretty pleased with myself. :)
